On October 3, a plane from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations will deliver humanitarian aid to Lebanon. This was stated by the Russian ambassador in Beirut, Alexander Rudakov.
“Tomorrow a plane from the Ministry of Emergency Situations will arrive, bringing humanitarian aid from the Russian Federation here.” – said in the Valdai discussion club.
He added that the current conflict with Israel has become deadlier in scale than the Lebanese-Israeli war of 2006. Lebanon is already in a difficult situation: the socio-economic crisis in the country has been going on for five years, the presidency has been empty for almost two years and the entire executive branch has been working with limited functionality. In addition, there are many Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and they are also experiencing the consequences of the escalation between the Gaza Strip and Israel, which began in October 2023.
“Then it’s worse. For more than a week, Israel has been carrying out its air operation in Lebanese territory. At first, in Beirut, we tried to count how many times we attacked the southern, traditionally Shiite areas. Now we have lost count,” said the ambassador. — I am deeply convinced that that same boiling point has long since been surpassed… What will happen next, the answer, I believe, is simple to the point of banality. The first is a ceasefire, a negotiating table and a diplomatic solution, whatever it may be. The second is a negative and dangerous scenario: there may be a further development of Israel’s ground operation in Lebanon and a large-scale, prolonged war in the region.”
As reported EADaily On the night of October 1, the IDF began a ground operation in neighboring Lebanon. Since last week, the Israeli Air Force has been carrying out massive strikes against Hezbollah targets in different areas of Lebanon. Several airstrikes were also reported in Beirut. On September 27, the entire leadership of Hezbollah was liquidated, including the movement’s leader. Hassan Nasrallah.
