The head of the Financial Market Committee of the State Duma, Anatoly Aksakov, completely refused to produce and, consequently, circulate small coins in Russia. Details are reported by RIA Novosti.
But the parliamentarian is sure that the one ruble denomination will definitely remain, since the ruble is the national currency.
“Now the population does not demand much change; I see that many do not even accept the change when it is given to them. Therefore, it is worth considering whether it is worth producing something that people do not need at all.” – says Aksakov.
The deputy also clarified that we are not talking about devaluation. The Russian ruble remains stable thanks to the effective measures of the country’s Central Bank.
EADaily previously reported on the reason why the Bank of Russia issued a new banknote with a face value of 5,000 rubles.
