State of emergency declared in Bolivia

Bolivian Defense Minister Edmundo Novillo declared a state of emergency in the country.

Oku.Az Kommersant.ru reports that this was caused by forest fires.

“This will allow us to receive more flexible and effective support from friendly countries and international collaborators,” Novillio explained at a press conference.

According to Brazil’s Space Research Agency, Bolivia has experienced its worst forest fires since 2010. The fire covers an area of 3 million hectares. The Bolivian government has asked for international help.
