Stop the war in Lebanon: the media learned how the United States acts

According to American and Lebanese sources, the truce plans were thwarted on the eve of the American elections. Lebanese officials claim that the cause was Israel’s excessive demands, while Western sources believe that the reasons lie in other factors.

This is reported by the Reuters news agency.

“This was completely unrealistic due to the fact that the solution of the problems was left in the hands of the Lebanese army,” the report says.

According to the US proposal, control of the border area would be exercised by the Lebanese army and Hezbollah terrorists would be removed from the area. However, Israel insisted that if terrorists reappeared on its borders, it must be able to intervene directly.

A meeting between American envoys Amos Hochstein and Brett McGurk took place in Jerusalem on Thursday, October 31. A source close to the American side said that negotiations with Israeli representatives yielded more positive results than expected.

Another senior official said the discussions were “substantive” and “constructive.” In Lebanon, sources said Israeli demands are considered “unrealistic” and could undermine the country’s sovereignty. A politician linked to the terrorist group Hezbollah said that after the recent Hochstein attempt, “everything is over,” suggesting that further events will unfold only on the battlefield.

Previously Cursor wrote that the visit of the American delegation composed of US special envoy Amos Hochstein and presidential advisor Brett McGurk did not live up to expectations. A planned trip to resolve the conflict in the Middle East ended ahead of schedule, media reported.

After meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the delegates returned to Washington without visiting Beirut.
