The strike at Charleroi airport, Belgium’s second busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic, began on Thursday 12 September and will continue on Friday. “For security reasons and due to a lack of staff, all flights to and from Charleroi airport are cancelled” On Friday, as the day before, the operating company BSCA issued a press release.
The conflict between airport staff and management is related to working conditions. A consultation meeting between management and unions is scheduled for Friday morning to try to find a solution to this conflict, according to the report.
Charleroi Airport serves more than 190 destinations, mainly in the Mediterranean basin. It handles eight million passengers a year. It is the second airport in Belgium after Brussels-Zaventem.
