The Civil Guard of Valladolid, within the framework of Operation “Flavinpa”, carried out an investigation which resulted with the arrest of a criminal group, three detainees and two investigated, specialized in the theft of tools and construction materials from inside vehicles.
Most flights were planned vans and in the provinces of Valladolid, Ávila, Salamanca and Segovia.
The Civil Guard opened the investigation after learning of an attempted theft with force inside a vehicle in Tordesillas. Investigators noted damage to the vehicle without theft of equipment.
Subsequently, complaints regarding vehicle thefts in municipalities near Valladolid, as well as other acts committed inside construction sites, were analyzed.
Due to the experience of the investigators and their knowledge of local crime, it was suspected that the perpetrators could belonging to a well-known family clan with a history of similar crimes.
After several monitoring operations, a complete analysis of the information collected was carried out, in which one of the suspects was identified as the user of the vehicle.
Surveillance continued until a second individual who collaborated in the thefts was identified. It was concluded that the group had a reasonable and systematic motivation to commit the crimes, taking into account the value of the stolen tools and items.
In order to clarify the facts and prevent further thefts, officers adopted various investigative and follow-up measures. This allowed us to know the nighttime movements of the criminal group and the location where the stolen tools and materials were found.
Likewise, the receiver sold part of the stolen tools in different buying and selling establishments.
The operation concluded with the arrest of the alleged perpetrators of the thefts and the recipient of the stolen items, in addition to the investigation carried out among the owners of the vehicles used in the crimes.
Added to these facts are the accusations of belonging to a criminal group and offenses against road safety.
Thanks to this operation, the Valladolid Civil Guard managed to elucidate 25 crimes and recover various construction tools and materials, all returned to their rightful owners. The investigation remains open and new arrests cannot be ruled out.
The Civil Guard is investigating the procedures which, along with the detainees, were brought before the courts.
