The incident left two plant employees seriously injured. Rescue helicopters, firefighters and police rushed to the scene.
The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown. According to preliminary information, the emergency occurred on the premises of the defence company Diehl Defence, which has two subsidiaries in Troisdorf: Dynitec and DynaEnergetics, reports the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger newspaper.

German Interior Minister Nancy Feser has already announced her intention to promote a ban on carrying knives with a blade longer than six centimetres. This initiative has gained particular relevance following the recent attack in Mannheim, where a 25-year-old Afghan attacked participants in an anti-Islamic event.
