More than 80,000 homes in Georgia remain without power. A state of emergency has been declared in those two states, as well as in Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia.

It should be noted that the hurricane hit Florida on the afternoon of September 26 and was assigned to the fourth category (of five possible categories), when the wind speed can reach 209-251 km/h.

At least one person is reported to have died after a sign fell on their car in Florida.

State Governor Ron Desantis said casualties and property damage would increase.

Likewise, according to local media, Florida’s Taylor County Sheriff’s Office issued a call to local residents who refused to evacuate due to Hurricane Helen.

Residents were asked to write their phone numbers on their bodies to identify them.

“Please write your name, date of birth and important information on your arm or leg with a permanent marker so that it is possible to identify you and notify your family,” the sheriff asked the public.

Citizens were also asked to provide information on who refused to evacuate, the number of animals in the family and how close their homes are to the coast.

According to County Sheriff Wayne Padgett, 20,000 people live in the area. He noted that half of the population decided to stay at home.
