Firefighters from the Generalitat are trying to smother this Thursday two forest fires in the region of Priorat (Tarragona). One of them, Cabacés, near the Serra del Montsant, where about thirty rescue teams are already working. Among these, there are also air resources. It was after three in the afternoon when they received the alert about the flames, which are burning pine trees and vegetation.
As a precautionary measure, a 17-hectare lockdown order has been issued to protect “two isolated farms”, Mas Baix and Mas del Roger. Both uninhabited. And the fire is not affecting any towns, even though, at present, some 1,400 subscribers from different municipalities in the region Priorat They do not have electricity, as specified by the Civil Protection.
The extinguishing tasks are becoming complicated, the firefighters point out, due to the strong wind that is blowing this afternoon in the region. The second fire in the same region is the one that broke out in Porrera. Fifteen other teams are working to extinguish it.
