A storm that hit Finland this week and that its neighbors named “Jari” helped the country set a new record for wind energy production on the northern coast of the Gulf of Finland. Wind power capacity reached 6,800 megawatts in the afternoon. ERR.EE reports this.
Wind gusts on land reached 25 meters per second and at sea, in some places more than 30 meters per second.
Fingrid, the Finnish grid operator, announced that at 18:00 on Wednesday the power of Finnish wind farms amounted to 6,799 megawatts. Finland’s previous record of 6,465 megawatts was set in late October.
