Sumar believes that a consensus on reducing working hours is “very close” and believes that the PP is willing to support it due to “social pressure”

Sumar’s spokesperson, Ernest Urtasunstressed that reducing working hours is a priority and launched The PP is now open to this measure due to “social pressure”. This was reported by the media before participating in the meeting of the Sumar Coordination Group, its main management body, this Saturday at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

Urtasun claimed that Sumar marks the main issues on the political and social agendawith the start of the political journey, and one of the priorities is to undertake the reduction of working hours, without reducing wages.

“I think that we are much closer today be able to achieve a reduction in working time. Not only because it enjoys very broad social support, but also because even the PP is starting to move and is moving, among other things, because society very massively supports this proposal,” he argued.

On the other hand, he explained that the Minister of Labor, Yolanda Diazattempts to find solutions to the most complex aspects of measurements, such as its application to SMEsand that the dialogue with social agents continues. Therefore, he reiterated that he sees “very close” to reach a consensus on the reduction of working hours.
