The president of the Popular Party, Alberto Nuñez Feijóoaddressed this Saturday, without naming them, to the partners of Pedro Sanchez to force them to take a stand in the face of the accusations of corruption surrounding the Government.
“Today, supporting Sánchez no longer makes you with a simple partner but as an accomplice or accomplice of their excesses”, said Feijóo, during an evening in Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia).
After Víctor de Aldama’s statement before the judge, the popular leader has already declared himself “willing” to lead a motion of censure if “one of Sánchez’s partners” decides to put an end to the “agony” of the government encircled, he said, by “the Sánchez case.”
This Saturday, Feijóo recalled that “it is not appropriate to reduce everything to the left or to the right” because “the blocks have changed”. “There is that of Sánchez’s lies and shame and that of truth and honesty,” he resolved.
The opposition leader stressed that “Spain must open a new stage, which puts an end to the decline of national politics, of a decadent president with a decadent party.” “A stage with values, of honesty, in which the truth is told to people above any personal interest and where politics is about serving, no more and no less.”
“While they are writing their defense briefs, we will strengthen the political alternative in Spain,” warned Feijóo, who denounced that “there is no room for more lies and corruption in the Palace of la Moncloa” where, according to him, “there is a certain rotten smell.
“Either you’re with the corrupt conspiracy or you’re with the people And where everyone wants to be, there is their responsibility. We are with the people and not with the corrupt plot which supports and directs the Spanish government”, he underlined.
“It’s democratic that there are differences. But in a moment like this, it is the duty of everyone, left and right, to send a message to citizens, to tell them that politics cannot be reduced to lies and corruption. It will be them. “The majority of politicians are neither lies nor corruption, and the vast majority of citizens blame lies and corruption,” he insisted.
Feijóo also appreciated that in the face of “the problem of systematic corruption that affects Sánchez,” the socialist “must be in government.”
“We understand better than ever their desire for power at all costs, their lack of scruples and change of opinion, their obsession with justice and the media. They are in government for their own defense, with complete impunity. Lose hope. Justice in Spain works and they will pay for what they did,” he said.
Motion of censure
Feijóo did not explicitly refer to the motion of censure he presented on Thursday, after Víctor de Aldama’s statement.
Then, in a statement to the Congress of Deputies, he emphasized that we are in a situation of “end point of the credibility of Sánchez, of his executive, of his family environment and of his party” and recalled the same words as the socialist had pronounced when he presented the motion of censure against Rajoy. Sánchez stressed that “what anyone with a minimum of decency would do is resign.” The calculation for a motion of no confidence, however, is very complicated and would involve parties like Junts or the PNV, which, Feijóo recognizes, are better off with Sánchez because he is “the weakest president and most susceptible to blackmail.”
