supports the Catalan quota and proposes to draft the economic presentation

The head of PSOE from Madrid, Juan Lobatoabandoned the side of criticism of the fiscal pact with the ERC in the Federal Committee this Saturday to make Salvador Illa president. And he did so by adopting a moderate position, in view of the next Federal Congress in which Pedro Sanchez will propose changes in the regional leadership. One of those on the table is his own, and internal voices within the PSOE indicate that Lobato is looking “a pardon” of Sanchez to continue in the charge.

Lobato also offered to lead the presentation on regional financing and the territorial model at Federal Congressl of the PSOE next November in Seville, while he defended the “tax liability” and social justice in his speech to the party’s Federal Committee this Saturday.

As he later stated in statements to reporters after leaving the party’s Federal Committee, Lobato officially requested that this presentation be presented to regional fundingon which all the debates are focused after the economic agreement for Catalonia concluded with ERC.

As he has done on other occasions, Lobato considers this tax agreement between PSC and ERC “legitimate” so that Catalonia begins to collect one hundred percent of taxes, and believes that it is a starting point to initiate this debate.“Spain is not going to break up because of the Catalan pact.”assured Lobato, moving the most critical positions like those of Emiliano García-Page or Javier Lambán.

Internally, socialist sources assume that Lobato’s move is an attempt to escape a possible replacement at the head of the Madrid PSOE leadership. “He thinks he will forgive him,” they say.

A few hours earlier this morning, the general secretary of the PSOE-M and spokesman for the socialist group in the Madrid Assembly, Juan Lobato, said that Spain was “a living model that can be debated.” Before entering the Socialist Federal Committee, he indicated that that day would begin the debate on a political project aimed at consolidating and continuing a new cycle with Pedro Sánchez at the head of the Presidency of the Government. “Spain is not going to break up because of the Catalan pact,” Lobatao assured.

Lobato, in statements to the press before the start of the meeting, stressed that in terms of political theory, autonomous Spain is almost a federal Spain. According to him, “there are many shared principles and it is a successful model that requires more depth and development, as established in the Constitution.” He explained that there are specific powers for communities, the State and others that can be assumed over time, which shows that it is a living and constantly evolving model.

“Today is an important day, a day of analysis and reflection, but also of enthusiasm and ambition so that this political project, which has borne so much fruit in terms of social cohesion, advancement of the country and progress, is consolidated and continues in a new cycle with Pedro Sánchez as president. In this way, the pillars of social justice, progress and equality will continue to be strengthened in Spain,” said Lobato.

Lobato also stressed that in this debate, which began that day, Madrid would be at the forefront, stressing that the convening of the Congress added a special dimension, foreseeing “very interesting weeks of analysis.”

“Today we will present the general principles that we believe should guide the debate and define the party’s position for the next four years,” Lobato concluded.
