The functioning of the General Information Commission (CGI) left six detainees in Spain, four of them in Ceuta and the other two in Madrid and Ibizafor which officers had judicial authorization to extend arrests due to the volume of information obtained in the archives.

In Morocco, for its part, the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) confirmed that three other arrests had taken place.

The nine detainees are accused of having allegedly formed a cell linked to the Islamic State (Daesh) in the Sahel and of having “planned terrorist actions”, according to a press release on Friday from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), dependent of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

According to the press release collected by the Moroccan agency MAP, preliminary investigations indicate that among the accused are “former detainees in terrorism cases in Spain”.

According to Moroccan information services, “They were imbued with Daesh ideology” and held meetings in different cities like Ceuta and Tetouan “as part of the planning and coordination aimed at committing terrorist acts before joining the ranks of the branch of this terrorist organization in the Sahel region, sub-Saharan Africa” .

From Morocco they also confirmed that During the searches, knives and computer equipment were seizedwhich will be subject to the necessary digital expertise.

The BCIJ highlighted the collaboration with the CGI of the National Police to enable the dismantling “a terrorist cell affiliated with the Daesh organization in the Sahel composed of 9 membersof which 3 operated in Tetuán and F’nideq and 6 others in Madrid, Ibiza and Sebta, in Ceuta.

A sophisticated operation

Last Friday, Moroccan and Spanish police dismantled a terrorist cell affiliated with the Sahel branch of the jihadist organization Islamic State (Daesh), as part of a joint operation in which took part detention of a total of nine people. One of them in Ibiza. Arrests also took place in the Moroccan cities of Tetuán and Castillejos (Fnideq) as well as the Spanish cities of Madrid and Ceuta.

As part of the operation, carried out jointly and simultaneously between the security services of the two countries, searches were carried out at the homes of the detainees, during which the agents seized bladed weapons and computer equipment.
