Three suspects in the murder of Israeli Rabbi Zvi Kogan were detained in the United Arab Emirates, Khaleej Times reports.
“In relation to this crime, the authorities arrested three people.” – says the message. It is not specified where exactly the suspects were detained.
The identity of those involved had previously been determined: they were citizens of Uzbekistan; They fled to Türkiye, Vesty reports. The Israeli Foreign Ministry called the murder an “anti-Semitic terrorist attack.”
Kogan, 28, disappeared on November 21. The body was discovered on the afternoon of November 24. His car with signs of struggle was found about 150 kilometers from Abu Dhabi, where he lived, Ynet reported. He had citizenship of Israel and Moldova, was a member of the Jewish religious movement “Chabad” and was its representative in Abu Dhabi. He was also assistant to the chief rabbi of the Jewish community and ran the Rimon kosher supermarket in Dubai.
An unnamed UAE official told Channel 12 that the incident had left authorities “angry and shocked”.
“This occurred after years in which there were no incidents related to security or nationalism,” — the television channel quotes him.
The UAE authorities stressed that they will do everything possible to ensure the safety of their citizens, residents and guests.
The Iranian embassy in the United Arab Emirates stated that it “categorically rejects” accusations of its involvement in the murder of the rabbi, RBC clarifies.
