As reported on Monday by newspapers in the Central European country, Ameti sparked outrage this weekend on the social network Instagram showing photographs of a shooting training session in which he appeared first with a pistol, then a copy of what appeared to be an icon of the Orthodox church in which the faces of Jesus and the Virgin were pierced with bullet holes
Ameti, the daughter of parents who are refugees from the former Yugoslavia, is known in the country as the co-president of the Operation Libero movementa progressive, multicultural student movement that arose in response to the rise of the country’s most conservative right-wing opposition to immigrant arrivals.
