SWR stops “Newszone” after legal difference

“Newszone” has long been a container bone between newspaper publishers and the ARD broadcast. The judges dealt with it. The legal dispute is still working. Sometimes the SWR had left its application.
The boss SWR GNIFFKE stressed that the decision to regulate the application is “completely independent” of the legal dispute. This has nothing to do with each other. Now try to create other offers for the new target group. Some of the broadcasters have asked the broadcasting body to continue to maintain this target team firmly and to act quickly.
There was a controversy in court because a group of 16 editions had filed a lawsuit against. These considered a previous version of the application to be excessively text. Publishers were afraid that this could lead to competition for their offers. The court rejected the publisher’s claim. The prohibition of the likeness of the press does not refer to the similarity of the type of individual content, but in principle to the whole telemedia offer. The broadcasting organization defended its implementation. In a state contract for the media, federal states have set rules for the demarcation of the broadcasting of types that are different. The background of this regulation is also to enhance the diversity of the media in Germany.
