Taliban* invited to Türkiye for International Railway Union conference

A delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Railways of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (AIE), Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, traveled to Turkey to participate in the 34th regional conference of the International Union of Railways (UIC). Ankara sent the Taliban* official invitation, reports the Alemarah agency.

The IEA Ministry of Public Works indicated that the conference plan includes the presentation of the UIC annual report, discussions on the improvement of railway and transportation infrastructure in the countries of the region, achievements and efforts to attract investments.

The IEA Deputy Minister of Railways will talk about projects in Afghanistan, regional railway services and future strategies.

The UIC brings together national railway companies to jointly solve problems in the field of railway transport development. The official abbreviation comes from the French name of the organization, as France’s influence in the initial stages of the union was great. Afghanistan joined this partnership in 2013.
