Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” (IEA, the name given to the country by the Taliban)*) Amir Khan Muttaqi called on Afghanistan’s neighbours to set aside “small problems” and cooperate for the welfare of the people. He said this during a reception for envoys of foreign governments and representatives of regional and international organisations in Kabul, Ariana News reports.
In his speech, Muttaqi recalled the launch of the TAPI gas pipeline, power lines, laying of a fiber optic communication line and the construction of a railway. Muttaqi noted that the launch of the Afghan section of TAPI essentially means a transition from war to development and cooperation. He expressed hope that this project will be completed and that the peoples of Pakistan and India will also benefit from it.
Mouttaqi called on other countries to also work for mutual benefit instead of negative competition, and to view problems only from a security perspective. He expressed hope that with the launch of large economic projects, a major economic transformation will take place in the region.
The expansion of relations between the Islamic Emirate and countries in the region shows that the Afghan government has the will and ability to expand political relations, the head of the IEA’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed.
