Taxes, Housing and Formula 1

An old politician used to say that if the files are not “moved” at the beginning of the legislature, it ends and things remain pending. Isabel Díaz Ayuso does not want to waste time or let her advisers waste it; that is why she has gathered them on the first day after the summer holidays to mark time and clearly express her priorities for this second year in office: issues such as housing, tax cuts – which are already the hallmark of the house -, the development of major health projects such as the City of Health in La Paz; or the most spectacular operations such as the arrival of Formula 1.

The dynamic is simple: Díaz Ayuso chairs the meeting in which none of his advisers have participated. Nothing distracts them: through the windows, they see only a spectacular green landscape. From time to time, a coffee break. They eat there. The cell phones remain parked during the meeting, which lasts about ten hours.

According to what sources present at the meeting told ABC, each of the councilors explained the current situation in their region for the new course. They are, they explain, “very intense but extremely effective meetings to plan and prepare everything.” Many of the measures revealed yesterday at the Casita will be presented in ten days by Díaz Ayuso, during the debate on the state of the region.

The good climate between the councilors is one of the issues that they insist on in the president’s environment: they understand each other and knowing where their colleagues in the Government Council are moving helps them to organize synergies or carry out cross-cutting projects. At the meeting table, topics such as job creation and business attraction measures, tax cuts, improvement of public services, the fight against drugs and screens, the development of the new hospital in La Paz, the launch of the Spanish Ballet of the Community of Madrid. , or the arrival of Formula 1.

The Casita or Santillana residence, located on the banks of the reservoir of the same name, is a spacious chalet surrounded by vegetation, completely isolated from prying eyes, which is usually used by regional officials to concentrate their teams. Díaz Ayuso gathers his advisers there at the beginning of each political year, in a kind of “spiritual exercises” more informal than a meeting of the Government Council.

The regional apparatus is now at full capacity with this first meeting. The elected officials know that the campaign slogan “You win” is what Díaz Ayuso will ask them every day. And they also know that no one can let their guard down. On Wednesday, a Government Council will be held, chaired by Ayuso; on Thursday, a series of meetings will be held with the spokespersons of the parties represented in the Madrid Assembly: PSOE, Más Madrid, Vox and Partido Popular. And the culmination of this start will be next week, with the debate on the state of the region that will take place on September 12 and 13.
