technology in Cordoba companies is seen in “On the industry”

On one side a robotic arm with a boxing glove, on the other a robot waiter. There is a cleaning robotthere another miniature walking around a table. Loaders, excavator simulators… Everything seems to take the public into a futuristic world. However, it is in Cordoba, and more precisely at the Palace of Exhibitions, Fairs and Congresses.

This is the fourth ‘On Industry’ forum, a show dedicated to collaborative industry 4.0. 55 companies took part in the event and there will be around two thousand participants to date. Among these entities, several renowned ones like SiemensIndra or Deuser, but also many small Cordovan companies dedicated to a multitude of sectors.

One of them is Sena Robotics, dedicated to cargo robots, for hotels or cleaning. In the exhibition you can see precisely the one dedicated to cleaning, who carried out his work in the warehouse of the Exhibition Center. This company is now located in the El Patio nursery (located in the renovated La Normale building, in the South Sector).

“We are committed to integrating collaborative robotics into human teamwork, the goal is for robots to take care of repetitive tasks, routine and low-value tasks, while humans can devote more time and attention to high-value tasks,” summarizes Sandra Marín, CEO of Sena Robotics.

These robots “can be integrated into the hotel industry, in hotels, in shopping centers as informants, in museums to explain tourist guides or this one that we have in the exhibition and which is capable of cleaning a thousand square meters per hour. And there is the mother of all “roombas”.

Within the Córdoba Biotech incubator, located at Rabanales 21, several companies come together under the same exhibitor. Nucleus Biolab is dedicated to water control and analysis. “We have several lines, one is to remove bacteria from the water to clean it, but another is to produce bacteria -the good ones, not the bad ones- to create substances, metabolites or polymers useful for various functions”, declares one of the leaders of the entity, Andrés Bermúdez.

For his part, Montse Bernal, of Secalflorexplains that the company he represents is dedicated to the manufacture of panels composed of mineral salts, starches and cellulose flowers. “They were first designed for slopes, but it later turned out that they could be used to make green roofs, golf courses or in gardens, the advantage is that when dissolved, it brings the soil back to life and saves water.

In the same exhibitor is Flamingo Biomechanical Lab, represented at this meeting by its founder, Luis Martínez. The company is dedicated to surgical planning. “We create 3D models, both of animals and humans, to test the surgery before it happens, reducing delays by up to 70% and costs by up to 40%.

On a table you can see some models, including a brain, a heart or the bones of the leg and foot, each made with different techniques, ranging from polyamides to corn starch or resin, but also thanks to bioprinting “to create 3D models with living cells which can be implanted in the future”. It has just been awarded by AJE Andalucía.

The exponent of Southern Technological Unionwhose headquarters are in Córdoba, attracts attention for its robotic arm ending in a boxing glove, which shows some facets of these devices, such as the immediate response to human contact, which makes it stop, which can be extrapolated to other uses.

Its technical sales representative, Sixto Sicilia, says the company specializes in industrial automation; supplies and components and projects engineering. The emphasis is on collaborative robotics: “This is what allows the robot to collaborate with an operator in production in the factory, since it has safety systems to stop the movement of the robot.”

machine simulator

A bulky machine, like a very advanced arcade, draws many eyes to the area. This is the Simmumak simulator. Your sales director, Rubén Moranspecifies that it is a simulator of machines, where several can be simulated by easily changing some parts.

“In this case, we brought a chain excavator based on a Caterpillar, and it can also simulate a forklift based on a Toyota.” These simulations are used for “training” purposes, training and operator certification” and are aimed at both training centers and companies that work with machines, which “now need to train many people in a short time due to the lack of operators”.

Various robots, including a small one that walks around a table and constantly jumps into the void, as if it wanted to go have a drink after becoming aware of itself, populate the exhibitor of Arranz Consultores, whose responsible for the automation and digitalization sector, Manuel Rodriguezspecifies that they present digital twin technology, that is to say “systems that virtualize a real environment to help in decision-making”.

This digital twin can be applied to multiple uses: “for example in any processing line, such as a factory, even if it can be applied to any sector”. They also show an “xplanar” system, “which uses magnetic fields transmit movement without elements of physical union.

Indra and the army are present with their eyes turned towards the base and new technologies in the defense sector

Several companies are oriented towards the next army logistics base in Cordoba, such as the multinational Indra, represented by the commercial director of the army, Carlos Orubeand aftermarket business development manager Pelayo Alvaredo.

Both explain one of their major projects, the Army’s predictive logistics system. One of its fruits is the installation of a data logger on vehicle platforms. “It is inserted into the cabin and connected to the vehicle data ports, both on the Uro Vamtac and on the Iveco tractor heads.” This device transmits real-time information based on the data it collects from the vehicle.

Finally, First Corporal Luis Vallar tells what they presented to Cordoba regarding the base. It is “a team of diagnosis to determine the breakdowns of the vehicles we have and a sample of the manufacturing of the components of these vehicles. The inauguration of the fair was carried out this Wednesday by the University advisor, Jdaring Carlos Gómez Villamandos.
