Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov announced that the social platform’s privacy policy has been updated.
Oku.Az reports that this was reported on Pavel Durov’s Telegram channel.
The information states that IP addresses and phone numbers of people who violate the rules of the Telegram messenger may be disclosed to relevant institutions in response to justified legal requests.
“We’ve updated our terms of service and privacy policy to prevent criminals from abusing Telegram Search. Please be advised that IP addresses and phone numbers of those who violate our policies may be disclosed to relevant authorities in response to reasonable legal requests.”
“These measures should scare off criminals. Search on Telegram is not intended to offer illegal products, but to find friends and news. The company cannot afford to compromise the security of almost a billion users due to malicious people,” Telegram said in a statement.
