For the first time in the history of the world competition, in this VIII World Tapas Championship of the City of Valladolid, a Spaniard was the winner. Defend the candidacy with us, chef Teo Rodríguez, of the El Trasto restaurant in Valladolidconvinced the jury of sixteen candidates with his proposal ‘Rouleau de Pucela’, the cover that won the main prize in the previous edition of the national competition.

In addition, during the XX National Competition of Pinchos and Tapas it was the Guipuzcoan restaurant Bar Gran Sol in Hondarribia the one who beat the 44 other opponents thanks to “Mondays in the Sun” a chef’s cap Inigo Tizon Dilis.

The “Pucela roller” is made from puff pastry stuffed with lamb ragout kare raisu (a Japanese curry) with pistachios. “Mondays in the Sun” is a barbecue-flavored version of ribs with a neat miniature presentation.

The Millennium Dome hosted the awards ceremony, during which Rodríguez received the prize – a check for 10,000 euros, a diploma and a trophy – from the hands of the city’s mayor, Jesus Julio Carnero; the director of the Interprofessional Association of Spanish Olive Oil, Therese Pérezand the president of the competition jury, Oriol Castrofrom the Mejorar de Barcelona restaurant.
