Thai authorities have begun distributing money to citizens.

The Thai authorities paid 10,000 baht (about $300) to 3 million citizens on the first day of implementation of the “Digital Wallet” program, which is one of the points of the electoral program of the ruling party “Phiya Thai” in 2023.

The money will be transferred as a priority to vulnerable groups of the population, the disabled and holders of social security cards. Thus, a total of 14.5 million people will receive their payments at the end of September. In addition, it is expected that in the next stages the funds will be distributed among another 26 million people registered in the program.

The Thai government is considering the “Digital Wallet” program as a measure to stimulate the economy, promote the circulation of money in all regions of the country and provide assistance to vulnerable groups. The program is expected to provide more opportunities for digital innovation to provide employment, business, economic and social benefits to people.
