The two UAPO teams from the Zaragoza Local Police have already left for Valencia. Specifically, in Catarroja, an area that was designated to respond to the needs caused by the DANA tragedy. It is, in total, 16 UAPO agents, two all-terrain vehicles and a vanleft late in the morning from the Palafox barracks, in the capital Zaragoza.
The mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, went there to thank and encourage them. She did so accompanied by the advisors of the Presidency and Citizen Participation, respectively Ángel Lorén and Alfonso Mendoza, and the advisor Ruth Bravo.
This is the first UAPO expedition to Valencia, as explained by the mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, who detailed that “they will take on increasingly necessary security tasks”. This collaboration is based on direct contact with the contingent of the Government of Aragon through the 112 and with the security and civil protection organizations of the Valencian Community.
“The security tasks, which initially were not the most requested, because the rescue and emergency tasks were more urgent, and that is why we sent the Zaragoza fire brigade teams, now they are added taking into account the increasing security problems“, underlined the city councilor.
“The Zaragoza City Council has helped and collaborated in the area from the first day and we will continue to work,” recalled Chueca. In this sense, the mayor added that this evening, the fire rescue team, which left this Saturday afternoon with a new contingent of eleven members assigned to the La Torre neighborhood, was working in the area. In this area, their work focused on water drainage.
Citizen solidarity
Concerning the capture and channeling of citizen solidarity, from Monday, The collection center for essential materials will be located at the University Civic Center. Chueca also mentioned the good pace of the fundraising campaign with Ibercaja and the Ibercaja Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Zaragoza.

Huesca troops
The mayor of Huesca, Lorena Orduna, announced that the city’s local police began its deployment in Catarroja, in the Valencian Community, with a team of eight soldiers. This contingent, composed of six local police officers and two agents will join the Huesca City Hall firefighters who are already on site to carry out security and coordination tasks in response to the crisis caused by DANA.
Orduna expressed his gratitude to the Government of Aragon for “the excellent coordination that facilitated this deployment”, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the different security forces. “Our local police, together with that of Zaragoza, will be the first to help all the people devastated by this situation,” said the mayor.
