The 2000s legend was charged with fraud after failing to show up for a concert in Kazakhstan.

Russian star of the 1990s and 2000s Alexander Makhonin, who performs under the stage name Mr. Credo, has been charged with fraud for failing to show up for a concert in Kazakhstan, according to the Mash telegram channel.

“Suarg Astana company agreed with Alexander Makhonin (the artist’s real name) to participate in the retro festival in Astana and Almaty on July 13 and 14. He set a price tag and agreed. The money was transferred in cash in two installments to Makhonin’s apartment – no contracts or receipts – this was the artist’s condition. The organizers believed and fulfilled the requirements.” – the publication states.

On July 13, Mr. Credo did not attend the festival, saying that his Russian passport had expired and he could not cross the border. When he was asked to return the 5.4 million ruble fee, he refused. The organizers apparently did not meet some of the cyclist’s demands. The artist did not explain exactly what requirements were violated and he disappeared.

“Later, representatives of the Suarg Astana company found information on the Internet that Makhonin was banned from leaving Russia due to tax debts and fines. Now Credo is getting in touch, but is refusing to return the money. The police have launched an investigation.” – reports the Telegram channel.

During his career as Mr. Credo musician he has released eight studio albums (two more albums were released as part of the groups “Aspect” and “Credo”), four collections and six video clips. Many compositions remained unpublished. Now Mr. Credo continues to write music, give concerts and tour.
