The delegate of the Council in Talavera de la Reina, David Gómez, highlighted that the second edition of the “Sabores de pueblo” Fair, organized in Almendral de la Cañada (Toledo), this year includes a gastronomic event of a solidarity nature that will be A food prepared by Carlos Maldonado’s “Semillas” school restaurant and that the profits are donated to the Chef Talavera Foundation, which launched this pioneering gastronomic project in the town of Talavera de la Reina.

This was explained by David Gómez during the presentation of the reissue of the fair which took place in the same school restaurant “Semillas” in the presence of its creator Carlos Maldonado; the mayor of Almendral de la Cañada, Marcelino Fernández; the secretary of the Semillas Foundation, Milagros Aceituno and Noelia Llera, of the ALBI company.

The Fair of “Sabores de pueblo” took place for the first time last year and had the support of the Government of Castile-La Mancha, which in this new edition once again shows its collaboration, as highlighted the delegate of the Junta in Talavera, to an “initiative like this, we were surprised by the success it had both in terms of public and in terms of turnover obtained by the companies that participated in 2023” .

He particularly emphasized this because “it is a matter of rural businessessmall towns where they do big things and together they can achieve even bigger things” and “this is the goal of this show, that small businesses in the agri-food sector get to know each other, participate in tourism in business, share ideas and generate synergies that help them grow and sell their products in new markets, not only national, but also international.

For the delegate of the Talavera Council, “Sabores de pueblo” is “a great initiative, which started very strong and which has many possibilities and the necessary components to achieve much more”.

In this sense, David Gómez highlighted the support that this fair receives from the Government of Castile-La Mancha through the MICE program, “an initiative that we launched during this legislature to promote congress and business tourism that is gaining more and more momentum in Castilla-La Mancha and that in Talavera it can be promoted in this important and rich rural environment that we have.

With this program, explained the Council delegate, “we financed five events in the Talavera de la Reina region, which had a great impact with more than 10,000 participants.”

Likewise, Gómez encouraged participation on December 7 in this fair “in which you will find flavors of the products of our villages, which are made here by small companies, which are made with great quality in rural areas and of which they are native”. Castile-La Mancha.

Finally, Gómez specially congratulated “the mayor of Almendral de la Cañada and the advisors of his government team for betting on an initiative like this, for the good work they are doing to develop it and to support businesses and rural areas. their cities and contribute to the promotion of this magnificent territory.

He also congratulated the chef Carlos Maldonado for wanting to participate in this second edition of the “Sabores de pueblo” with his school restaurant “Semillas”, a pioneering project that combines training, gastronomy and, coinciding with the objectives of the fair Almendral de la Cañada, offering a training and future opportunity to young Talavera men and women who have a little more difficulty.

He also appreciated the support that the Toledo Chamber of Commerce once again gives to the “Sabores” Fair in its second edition, sharing with the regional government what is a priority “in our policies, such as the fight against depopulation with its own measures, such as our pioneering Law, but also to stand alongside municipalities and mayors who launch initiatives like this in favor of their municipalities and their neighbors.
