“The 35 daily appointments of Andalusian doctors are a planning error”

The President of the Government of Andalusia Juanma Moreno recognizes the strategy of 35 consultations per day in the Primary care of the region.

This is how he responded during the ABC Alter Enersun Forum, held this Monday in Huelva, to the question asked by the director of the ABC of Seville, Alberto Garcia Reyesin which he asked him if he was satisfied with the situation of the Andalusian health system.

“It is very difficult to be satisfied with the number of problems and challenges facing a government of nine million inhabitants,” commented the president with a somewhat embarrassed smile, before acknowledging that there were “some outstanding questions with room for improvement which worries me”.

He immediately mentioned primary care, “where we obviously have a problem, due first to the lack of doctors” but also to poor planning. “We took some organizational decisions that didn’t worklike the 35 appointments per day that the doctors had. In this sense, he specified that he had played against “the accumulation of patients and user’s own discomfort“.

Of course, Moreno also wanted to emphasize that Andalusian public health “is better today than five years ago.” “It is exhaustive,” he assured, giving as an example that all the ratios, whether the number of beds per inhabitant, the number of operations, the number of nurses… “have improved “.
