Once Isabel Perelló’s profile was known, it is incomprehensible that the agreement for her election was not reached if not immediately after the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), but almost immediately. A limit situation had been reached for the election of the twenty members of the new CGPJ and it made no sense to reach another limit situation to definitively end the renewal with the election of the president of the body.
All the newly elected members of the CGPJ are people with extensive experience in the exercise of a profession, in which it is constantly necessary to consider very diverse circumstances before making a decision. The degree of knowledge of each of them about the performance of each of their colleagues is supposed to be very high. Consequently, as soon as they took office, they were in a position to make the decision to elect one or the other of them as president. Having waited until the eve of the opening of the judicial year to do so is incomprehensible. Instead of immediately transmitting a reassuring message to the public, they did the opposite. In this way, they prolonged the deterioration of the institution and contributed to further increasing the general political tension that exists in the country.
