In January-July this year, 860.7 tons of frozen pork worth $1,951.4 million was imported into Azerbaijan from abroad.
Yenivaz.com reports that the average customs value of a kilogram of imported pork was $2.3 (3.8 manats).
For comparison, in the same period last year, less than this year: 645.8 tons of frozen pork were imported into the country, and the average customs value of 1 kilogram remained unchanged.
For information, it should be noted that about 5% of the pork demand in Azerbaijan comes from local production. Most of the pork is imported. For example, 10,737 tons of pork were used in the country last year, of which 492 tons were domestically produced. More than 10,000 tons of pork were imported from abroad last year. Imported pork was not used as a food product, but was used for the production of sausages and other meat products.
