The Andalusian Government mobilizes 75 million euros to mitigate the consequences of DANA

THE Junta of Andalusia will mobilize “at least” 75 million euros to rebuild the destruction of the DANA in the region and help deal with the complex situation of the 285 affected municipalities and farms.

The spokesperson for the Andalusian Government, Caroline Spainappeared before the media this afternoon at the San Telmo Palace “after an initial assessment” – this Monday a meeting took place with the Emergency Service 112 of Andalusia, chaired by Juanma Moreno– and the result of “1,800 actions carried out by its professionals”.

Even if “the amount will be refined in the coming days”, at least 75 million euros will be allocated to five fundamental positions.

The main one will be agriculture. In the words of the also Minister of the Economy, “50 million they will go to him Andalusian countrysidewho was seriously affected. In this sense, “it was declared natural disaster situation in the provinces of Almeria, Cadiz, Grenade, Jaen, Malaga And Sevillewith 69 municipalities concerned.

The specific distribution of half a hundred million is 30 for compensation of SMEs and farms due to loss of income, 10 million to recover rural roads and the remaining 10 million to damaged hydraulic infrastructure.

DANA Decree

Carolina España highlighted that this will be the first time that the DANA decree will be applied since it entered into force at the end of 2023. “We have approved the declaration of exceptional situation in the region and activated Decree 277/2023 by which aid is regulated. specially intended for municipalities due to natural disasters.

They thus mobilized 12 million to be distributed among all the municipalities concerned -285- who face repairs that exceed the possibilities of the municipal funds themselves.

This point includes issues such as drinking water supply, wastewater disposal, urban cleaning, waste collection, recovery of power lines… -Money is also provided in this item for the conservation of schools, among other public services.

The city spokesperson recalled that as soon as they are published in the BOJA, town halls will have 10 days to make the request. “The Ministry of Justice will be responsible for processing them within a maximum period of two months” and “they will be compatible with other aid”.

Once approved, local authorities will have “two years to apply them and three months to justify the work carried out”.

Damaged road

Another significant amount concerns the 11 million allocated to the development of road infrastructure. Currently, only three roads are still closed to traffic, the A-334 (Serón bypass), the A-7286 (Campillos) and the A-421 (Villafranca from Córdoba to Adamuz).

“A total of 500 soldiers were deployed to ensure the integrity of Andalusia’s 10,500 kilometers of roads and conservation services worked around the clock to assist in the event of an incident.” Of the 300 incidents on the roads, more than a hundred were serious, including cases like the Serón variant, where the flood directly washed away the road. The work has been intense to recover mostly impassable areas

The last part of the 75 million is intended for repairs in educational centers. THE Department of Educational Development and Professional Training initially estimated the problems and damages that would need to be resolved at two million euros.
