The Archbishop of Santiago, Francisco José Prieto, participated this Monday in a breakfast conference in the Galician capital accompanied by members of the Confederation of Businessmen of Galicia. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he emphasized the “great responsibility of the company” in the fight against “polarizations and extremes” –an issue on which he expressed his current concern– and in the recovery of the human being as the center of society.
“We must make an effort to that the common good is a shared task”, Archbishop Prieto expressed that the objective is to build the society of the future according to the principles of “equality, justice and dignity”, so that everyone has “rights and obligations”. Because, according to him, the transformation that society is experiencing today “will be part of history”, and A “disruptive and apocalyptic” vision should be avoided in which “humanity will be left behind” in favor of mechanized tasks.
In this scenario, he presented a dichotomy: “Reason requires faith and faith requires reason” two concepts which “have always gone hand in hand” and which, he stressed, “are not mutually exclusive” in a society “which is challenged by artificial intelligence which, we hope, will always be more intelligent than artificial”, says Ep.
