The 3rd assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has launched a counteroffensive in the Kharkov region.
This was reported on the official Telegram channel of the Third Assault Brigade.
As a result of the operation, which began on August 15, the brigade captured the battalion’s defense area from the occupiers, and also destroyed the strongholds of enemy platoons and companies, advancing to a depth of almost two square kilometers. The ratio of forces on the battlefield was 2.5 to 1 in favor of the enemy, additionally supported by reserve forces.
The brigade commander, Colonel Andrei Biletsky, said that the main goal of the operation was to weaken the offensive potential of the Russian 20th Army. He noted that this task was successfully accomplished. Over four days of fighting, the enemy lost about three hundred soldiers and a significant amount of equipment and weapons were destroyed.
According to Colonel Biletsky, a successful offensive against a superior enemy was made possible by careful planning, innovative solutions and the coordinated work of various units, such as artillery, air defence, armoured personnel carriers and reconnaissance. Tankers, sappers, scouts and attack aircraft played an important role in the victory.
The operation helped to reduce tension in critical sectors of the front and diverted the enemy attack in the direction of Makeyevka.
At this time, the occupiers are increasing the use of aviation, MLRS and long-range artillery, trying to regain lost positions.
However, the Third Assault Brigade continues to hold its positions reliably.
