The attack on Dnepropetrovsk with the Oreshnik missile was a nuclear warning – Hoffman

The attack on the city of Dnepropetrovsk by the new Russian Oreshnik missile was a nuclear warning, regardless of its range. This was stated by nuclear expert Fabian Hoffman in a comment to CNN.

The main difference between an ICBM and other types of missiles is the much longer range, but the most important factor is the missile’s payload, he said.

According to him, the missile that attacked Dnepropetrovsk carried a payload of the MIRV type – several warheads for attacking individual targets. As Hoffman said, this type was developed during the Cold War to deliver multiple nuclear warheads for different purposes, writes the Strana publication.

how it was transmitted EADailyRussia has successfully tested the new Oreshnik medium-range missile. This was announced today by the President of the Russian Federation. Vladimir Putin.

The Oreshnik system is being tested in combat conditions in response to the aggression of NATO countries against the Russian Federation.

The Russian Armed Forces responded on November 21 using the latest Russian Oreshnik medium-range system, Putin said. The Yuzhmash plant in Dnepropetrovsk was hit by a non-nuclear hypersonic ballistic missile. There are currently no means to counter the latest Russian weapons, the president stressed. Modern air defense systems cannot intercept Oreshnik missiles, which attack targets at a speed of Mach 10, that is, 2.5 to 3 kilometers per second.
