The author of more than 60 car and house thefts in six months in Alcalá de Henares was arrested in flagrante delicto

National Police agents have arrested the perpetrators of 64 burglaries in garages, cars and homes since May. It was at his home, as he unloaded all the materials he had collected that night from the caretaker of a neighborhood community in Alcalá de Henares and inside a van, when they surprised this 30-year-old individual who was sowing terror in this city of Madrid.

In May, officers detected an increase in forceful thefts from vehicles in the same neighborhood of this town. On some occasions, he forced the locks or broke the windows of vehicles to take valuables inside. In others, he entered garages or housing estates with keys or opening controls he had stolen from cars. He also managed to enter houses by climbing.

He always acted at dawn, committed several thefts and traveled by bicycle and moved in the same neighborhood, the national police headquarters said in a press release.

After a police investigation, it was possible to identify the perpetrator, born in 1994, of Spanish nationality and with a history of similar acts, and a system was put in place to locate him. At the end of October, he was arrested at his home after committing two robberies. At the time of the arrest, reinforcements had to be requested as some family members began attacking the officers – who were treated for their injuries – to avoid arrest. Later, and during the transfer of the detainee to the police stations, he managed to break the rear window of the police vehicle with the intention of fleeing.

Various items that he had just stolen were seized from him, including a cell phone and a set of keys, as well as a moonbreaker hammer and some pliers with which he committed the thefts.

With this arrest, 64 crimes against property were solved. However, the National Police does not exclude the possibility of new complaints concerning thefts committed by this individual.
