The Azerbaijani boxer Aynur Mikayilova has signed a historic first.
Oku.Az reports that the national team member competing in the 57kg group did so at the world junior championships held in Budva, Montenegro.
Mikayilova defeated Reka Varga Sara (Hungary) in the quarterfinals with a full lead in the first round. He achieved at least one bronze medal by advancing to the semifinals. This is the first time in the history of Azerbaijani boxing. So far no boxer from our country has reached this stage of the world championship. Any medal she wins will go down in boxing history as the first prize for a women’s team.
