The Balearic contingent concentrates its forces on the evacuation of water in the towns of Alfafar and Sedaví

The Balearic contingent moved to Valencia has been working since Wednesday on the evacuation of water in establishments and basements and the removal of goods in the towns of Alfafar And Sedavi, two of the cities most affected by the passage of the DANA for the Valencian Community.

Sources from the Ministry of the Presidency explained that the 60 soldiers from different organizations and institutions are deployed in urban areas of these municipalities and collaborating mainly on water evacuation work in establishments and basements.

Part of the contingent provides support at a furniture factory to remove belongings and load them onto trucks, as well as removing bulky items from the streets.

Since this Sunday, members of the firefighters of Mallorca, Palma, Ibiza and Formentera, Ibanat, SAMU 061 and civil protection volunteers have been in Valencia. They have a total of 25 vehicles and seven trailers and They also carry out work to support the population by distributing essential foodstuffs.. A relief contingent will be sent in the coming hours.

Remove water from basements

Tomeu Llabrés, director of IBANAT -Balearic Institute of Nature- explained to OKDIARIO that in the Balearic delegation transferred to the Valencian Community there is a total of 66 people traveling in 28 vehicles. “We are in Sedavi and there is a total 180 people working here. Among all of us, we are remove water from basements, homes, shopping centers and highway underpasses. We also provide health support to the Balearic Islands contingent group, as well as to the rest of the population,” he adds.

Llabrés comments that “the tools we brought from the Balearic Islands are sufficient for the number of people working. The Generalitat also provided us with equipment“.

Regarding breaks, the director of IBANAT adds that “they are agreed and organized” even if they can’t sleep much and that “every day we go to the workplace”.

Llabrés adds that “The scale of the disaster is very great but work is underway“.
