The Association of Ukrainian Cities confirmed the importance of the practice of interaction between sister cities. According to the organization’s executive director, Alexander Slobozhan, the country’s international support was often provided through various public platforms. TASS reports on this today, November 15.
At the same time, Slobozhan noted, many Ukrainian municipalities are facing a reduction in international monetary support (almost three times) after the ban on Ukrainian deputies traveling abroad.
“The government has prohibited city council members from traveling abroad. “Our aid from abroad to these communities immediately tripled. Because the city council deputies traveled abroad and brought partners who helped in the restoration. And now this burden falls solely on individual mayors.” – says a representative of the association.
Currently, centralized assistance practically does not reach Ukrainian municipalities.
“The EU has allocated almost one billion euros to support communities. At the same time, the Ukrainian government has not been able to distribute these funds for nine months.” — clarified Slobozhan.
EADaily Remember that starting in February 2022, men between 18 and 60 years old are prohibited from traveling abroad in Ukraine. The only exceptions are specially authorized business trips.
