The first four months of operation of the Municipal Police Sustainability Team settled with 109 bicycle and vehicle orders personal mobility, 85 complaints filed for various reasons and 81 bicycles removed after being abandoned on public roads.
He Pamplona City Hall activated on Sustainability Team in June, as a new local and citizen service made up of police officers who patrol by bicycle. To date, there are eight agents and a first agent who make up this team.
Among the tasks of this new team assigned to the Proximity Brigade are located monitoring and control of bicycle usecompliance with various types of ordinances, such as the regulation of terraces or canines, the control of cultural and sporting events and demonstrations with traffic incidents or surveillance at the entrances and exits of educational centers. In addition, they also carry out interventions related to flora and fauna.
In response to these tasks, between June and September 30, the sustainability team filed 85 complaints, 50 of which were due to traffic violations.
Moreover, on 24 occasions bicycles and personal mobility vehicles have been reported for violation of the mobility ordinance; and eight other complaints concerned breaches of dog discipline. The rest is due to non-compliance with the General Vehicle Regulations (one complaint) and the law for the protection of citizen safety (2 complaints).
Beyond these complaints, Sustainability team officers opened 31 rooms due to damage on public roads and cycle paths, with the aim of the different municipal areas carrying out the relevant improvement works. Added to all this are five reports on ecology and the environment. As part of their actions, they made three arrests.
NEW ELECTRIC BIKES
Officers travel by bike “as long as weather conditions permit, which facilitates their access to areas where other patrols are less present.” These include, for example, parks and pedestrian areas, commercial areas and the Camino de Santiago route through the city.
Their way of moving “gives them accessibility and proximity to the populationwith which they carry out awareness and information work on various subjects such as the mobility ordinance or the ordinance on domestic animals, “without forgetting the mission of ensuring public safety, preventing theft and other crimes “.
Initially, the service started using the bikes available at the Municipal Policealthough “to improve the care and mobility” of these agents, Pamplona City Hall has acquired four new electric bikes. The idea is to “renew all the team’s bikes in the coming months”.
The agents who make up the Sustainability Team will carry out the patrol in pairs Monday to Sunday, in morning and afternoon shifts. The objective is to offer this local service to all districts of the city, organized by sector.
