The Bishopric of Mallorca has confirmed that it is investigating a total of two complaints lodged against the diocesan priest Guillem Feliu and Ramisrecently died, for alleged abuse of minors, which allegedly took place a few years ago.
In a press release, the Bishopric “deeply” regretted, first of all, the death of the diocesan priest, whom it entrusted to the “infinite mercy of God”, and shared the pain of the family, friends and those who appreciated and loved it.
On the other hand, he confirmed that recently the Bishop’s Office which ensures the protection of minors received two complaints of alleged abuse of minors by the priest, which occurred a few years ago, as reported.
In this sense, and since these were alleged abuses in the area of minors, which were not canonically prescribed, “the protocols in force were immediately applied”, indicated the Bishopric, emphasizing that “the “opening of a preliminary investigation has been ordered”. “.
Likewise, and given that it is a currently active rector, “the precautionary measures planned in the event of this type of complaint have been announced, always with respect and support for the alleged victims”, a he assured. “Without ceasing to defend the presumption of innocence to which the priest is entitled,” he said.
Finally, from the Bishopric, they clarified that the investigation was “in the initial phase, without having been able to reach any conclusion” at the time when the death of the denounced priest occurred, which is why they requested that “his brief and that of the plaintiffs.
