They drowned while trying to get their car out of the garage. Firefighters found the bodies of seven neighbors and a local police officer in a garage in the La Torre neighborhood of Valencia. The macabre discovery took place this morning and these are the first deaths caused by DANA in the city of Valencia, the rest of the deaths are distributed throughout the La Horta region.
The bodies were located in the second basement of the parking lot of the building located on rue Mariano Brull in Valencia. Firefighters are currently working to recover the bodies. These would be the first deaths recorded in the city of Valencia, since the rest of the deaths due to DANA were found in other Valencian municipalities where DANA was used with particular cruelty.
The eight deceased had remained trapped since the waterspout had surprised them at the most critical moments of the DANA. Among them, according to police sources, is a local police officer, Rubén Lima, from the seventh district unit. It appears that the agent, also a resident of the building, went down to the garage to take out his vehicle when the flood surprised him.
