The tour was headed by the administration of the institute, headed by President Professor Alon Chen, who proposed the degree of damage to this place to members of the committee.
According to the data provided to the members of the Knesset, about 112 sections were damaged in the complex of the institute, including 65 research sections and objects for scientific services. The five sections were badly damaged, and one of them completely collapsed. In addition, the Biomedical infrastructure was violated, 52 research laboratories, in addition to six service laboratories in the biological research infrastructure department, left the service.
“I am sorry that we come here out of serious damage caused by the attack of the Iranian language. We preferred to come in different circumstances to see your wonderful work. However, we came today with a clear position – the work that is performed here is a national asset. The Committee will work to ensure the continuation, development and prosperity of the work. We will discuss how to restore damage and insurance of appropriate financing.
The head of the Vyeman Institute, Professor Alon Chen, told the Knesset members that the damage to the institute is unprecedented, and its value is estimated from one and a half to two billion shekel, we are wide, and this is necessary because this place works for the benefit of the whole world. “
He added that the economic model of the institute is based on donations, funds and self-development, while state funding is only 20-25% of the operational budget: “We offer full grants without a study for study. 40% of the budget comes from a permanent fund, which was created from patent profit and donations, in addition to 30% of the income from the scientist themselves.
And he added: “Our annual budget is 4 billion shekels. We are pioneers in Europe in the field of financing, five times higher than the average indicator in the European language and the level of success of 63% is the highest since the creation of the institute. About 60% of international researchers have gone since the attack of the Iranian language, and we believe that they will return soon. ”
Chen emphasized that at present there is no state budget for the development or purchase of equipment: “All in donations – and this is a great burden. Even before the war, we sought to double the search spaces. Three times more talent in the country compared to the physical space available to us. This is a national interest – the state should double the abilities of the Vaizmann Institute or establish an additional research institute. ”
He added: “Each dollar is invested here, it will be ten times higher than their value for the economy.” Mardfa: “Real estate tax can cover 50% of the damage, but we still need to collect additional billions of shekels. We have already transformed tens of millions of reconstruction institutions, but the time decides, and we asked in advance. Without additional financing, the hiring mechanism will be affected. ”
As for compensation for the injured equipment, Chen noted that the gaps are large: “If we buy 5 million shekels, then real estate tax estimates its value with only 200 thousand shekels. This gap does not cover damage to knowledge and capabilities. It is connected with investment in the future of Israel, on its scientific basis and in the upcoming generation growth engine. ”
