Mondariz Balneario Town Hall (Pontevedra) was forced to remove the bust in homage to the actor Sancho Gracia, grandfather of Daniel Sancho after it appeared covered in red paint, after the sentence is known. “The incident was condemned by neighbors and by the municipal council”reported Sexta journalist Aris González. This action forced the removal of the statue of the actor who gave life to Curro Jiménez, to clean it.
Cesar Gil, mayor of the municipality, said: “I called the Civil Guard to file the corresponding complaint, they were here and told me that it was very difficult to know who it was. It must have been someone close to me because we link it to yesterday’s sentence.”
Likewise, the journalist explained that “it was a bronze sculpture, inaugurated in 2014 and located in Mondariz-Balneario because the actor had Galician family roots.” In fact, at the inauguration, which took place ten years ago, “the whole family was there. including also his grandson“.
