The Central Election Commission of Moldova forced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to maintain five polling stations in Russia

The Central Electoral Commission of Moldova partially heeded the call of the Socialist Party on the opening of polling stations for the presidential elections for representatives of the diaspora in Russia. According to the decision taken, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova is obliged to take measures within two days to create five electoral offices, and not two.

“The Central Election Commission forced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the district electoral council to implement the decision of the Central Election Commission on the opening of five polling stations in Russia.” – said the deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission Pavel Postica.

Thus, citizens of Moldova living in the Russian Federation, according to various estimates, about 400,000, will be able to vote in the presidential elections and in the constitutional referendum on European integration (to be held on the same day, October 20). ) in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Surgut and Khanty-Mansiysk.

Recall that the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Moldova decided to open 234 polling stations outside the country. In the Russian Federation, their number was reduced from 17 to 5 due to the “unfavorable security situation.” Last week, for the same reasons, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to reduce their number to 2.

The Socialist Party expressed its indignation and called the action of the authorities a sabotage of the will of Moldovan compatriots living and working in the Russian Federation. He recalled that of the 21.7 thousand Moldovan citizens living abroad, the largest number of voters in the Russian Federation were pre-registered to vote in the elections – 8,236 voters.

The Central Electoral Commission of Moldova will open the largest number of polling stations in Italy: 60. They are followed by Germany (26), France (20), Great Britain (17), the United States (16), Romania (16), Spain (11 ). Ireland (10). In other countries, from one to six sites.
