In “Julius Caesar” one of the most famous themes in history is addressed of the Ancient Rome around the conspiracy against the Roman dictator, his assassination and its consequences, serving as a starting point for do Chapitó makes a ‘sui generis’ adaptation which breaks the boundaries between classic and current, as César Arias, representative of Marmore Distribución, explained to ABC.

Arias said that in this comedy do Chapitó explores historical inconsistencies take liberties in the treatment of documented facts desecrate the figure of a historical monster. Thus, “Julius Caesar” offers a humorous look at the main stages of the political and military life of the famous Roman conqueror.

In an austere setting, the actors of the Chapitó company use as their only element, a simple silver glove which they use to embody weapons, power and money. Like the stage, the sober and neutral costumes of the three performers stand out.

César Arias underlined that the production of the Portuguese group is based on the physical work of the actors, who appropriate this classic, in order to update it and always question, from the seriousness of humor, the physical and social reality of the character and his time.

Jorge Cruz, Pedro Diogo and Susana Nunez star in this production where there are neither heroes nor villains, there are circumstances and cunning people looking for a life. There are also less intelligent people who do what they are told.

An original creation by do Chapitó between historical reconstruction, documentary and parody, which will not leave the public indifferent and which demystifies a unique character. In the opinion of Cesar Ariasthe group has always stood out for its “misadaptation of the classics” in their own language. “They extract everything that is most tragic, bloody, formally, politically and literary relevant and turn it into an exercise in absolute humor and colloquialism,” he said.

He spoke of the more than 400 kilometers that the actors will travel to reach Toledo, the city where they return after years without being on stage at Les Rojas. “It is such a beautiful place to which we always want to return and what better than with this work that the spectators of Toledo will be able to appreciate,” he repeated.
