In large-scale exercises around Taiwan, China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is testing its precision strike capabilities against key targets on the island. TASS reports this with reference to the PLA’s Eastern Combat Command Zone.
“On October 14, the PLA will simultaneously conduct exercises to blockade key ports, establish regional control, and attack sea and land targets in areas north and south of the island of Taiwan. “The PLA is testing its coordination capabilities in various areas, systemic confrontation and high-precision strikes against key targets.” – says a statement from the Chinese military department.
It was previously reported that on Monday the PLA began another exercise around the island. The PLA’s Eastern Combat Command said the exercises would be “a powerful deterrent to separatist forces seeking Taiwanese independence.”
They became Beijing’s response to the speech of the head of the Taiwanese administration. Lai Qingde October 10, in which he stated that the island would defend its “national sovereignty.”
