This Wednesday, Judge Beatriz Biedma summoned David Sánchez, brother of the President of the Government, as well as eight other people – including the leader of the PSOE of Extremadura and president of the Provincial Delegation of Badajoz, Miguel Ángel Gallardo – as doing the subject of investigation. A case has been opened against them for alleged offenses against the Administration and the Public Treasury, embezzlement, prevarication and influence peddling. Specifically, for allegations of irregularities in the appointment of Sánchez, as coordinator of the activities of the music conservatories of the Provincial Delegation of Badajoz.
The magistrate supported the accusation in a report from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard; report which, after the exhaustive analysis carried out by LaSexta, is far from conclusive. The truth is that the case is deflated with this document, and the main reason is that the complaint – promoted by the far-right pseudo-union Clean Hands – is part of a colossal hoax in which it is claimed that the brother of leader The Executive had experienced an increase in its own funds to have up to 1.4 million euros in BBVA bank shares.
This figure comes from a very serious calculation error in an article in “L’Objectif” which was used by the ultra association to justify its complaint. But the Civil Guard has dismantled this theory: the value in euros of shares in 2022 and 2023 is confused with the number of shares. Inexplicably, they added up, even though they were the same stocks with different values each year. Finally, they were multiplied by the value of each share, around 10 euros, which gave the false figure of 1.4 million. In fact, as LaSexta learned, last year David Sánchez barely had 68,000 euros in this entity, although the judge asked how much money exactly the person indicted had.
But the controversy surrounding this complaint does not stop only at this dance of numbers. As the same Civil Guard report indicates, there is no irregularity in the creation of this position of coordinator of music conservatories in the province – Manos Cleans denounced that this position was created specifically for the brother of Sanchez -. In fact, up to 65,000 emails were analyzed and none of them say that this position should have been created for David Sánchez. It should also be noted that at the time of the opening of the process, Sánchez was not President of the Government nor Secretary General of the PSOE.
