The GEDEX of the Civil Guard of Zaragoza neutralized, between November 11 and 12, a total of 14 explosive devices from the civil war, in the municipalities of Mequinenza and Belchite.
Last Monday, November 11, the TEDAX of the command of the Civil Guard of Zaragoza moved to the municipality of Mequinenza after notification of the appearance of various old explosive devices in an area where work is underway to install wind turbines.
Once on site, TEDAX verified the existence of several hand grenades and, during safe extraction work, more artifacts were found than initially located. a total of 13 Civil War hand grenades.
After verifying that these devices contained their explosive charge intact, despite the poor external condition they presented, the explosive deactivation specialists proceeded to neutralize them using a controlled explosion and maintain appropriate security measures.
The next day, Tuesday November 12, the TEDAX moved to the Old Town of Belchite after the warning about the existence of an explosive device embedded in the facade of the churchwhere restoration work is being carried out.
During the inspection of the said device, the specialists verified that it was an artillery projectile which was embedded almost entirely on the facadea, it was therefore necessary to extract it from the wall using construction equipment.
Once the projectile had been extracted, buried more than 40 cm deep, and verified that it retained its explosive charge inside, it was neutralized using the same procedure, a controlled explosion in a secure area.
During this year, the TEDAX of the Civil Guard of Zaragoza carried out a total of 146 incidentsthe vast majority were linked to the discovery of Civil War explosive devices.
