the clues of the Civil Guard to arrest the young man who murdered his ex-girlfriend in Orihuela

The Civil Guard was able to connect the 17 year old young man arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of his ex-girlfriend in Orihuela (Alicante) with remains of burned clothes, a partially destroyed knife and a package of incendiary tablets in an abandoned house that recorded a fire on the day of the events and that found near the scene of the attack on the 15-year-old minor.

The teenager had met the young man last Sunday, with whom had broken up “a few days ago”to speak. However, during the meeting, her ex-boyfriend allegedly attacked her with a knife, causing a serious injury to her neck. The victim died in hospital where, despite medical efforts, his life could not be saved.

The crime occurred on Sunday around 8 p.m., according to the Civil Guard investigation. Despite the seriousness of the injury, the young woman managed to reach her brother’s home, close to the scene of the attack, who took her to Torrevieja hospital where she eventually died.

The Women-Minors Team (EMUME) took over the investigation after determining that the main suspect was the victim’s ex-boyfriend, who was quickly identified, located and detained at his father’s home, around 11 p.m. the same evening.

In parallel, a call to 112 warned of a fire in an abandoned house near the scene of the attack. In it, officers found the remains of burned clothing, a partially destroyed knife and a package of incendiary pills. These objects, as well as other evidence obtained in the area of the events, made it possible to establish a “direct” link with the suspect.

The Civil Guard activated several units, including the main stations of Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada, the judicial police teams of Torrevieja and Almoradí and the command’s forensic laboratory. In addition, he had the support of the local Orihuela police to obtain the evidence and analyze the crime scene.

The president of the investigating court number 9 of Alicante, acting as guardian and substitute of the competent juvenile court, confirmed the request of the prosecution and accepted on Tuesday the precautionary measure of closed confinement for a maximum period of six months for the detained minor, extendable at the request of the public prosecutor for an additional period of six months.

The “conclusive” evidence collected, including the identification of evidence at the scene, allowed the prosecution to request preventive detention in a case in which the court declared the proceedings confidential.
