Emergency alert: impact may be severe due to accumulated water

The Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat has issued a special warning for this Sunday due to the impact that precipitation could have, if it occurs, due to the rain accumulated on the ground. Emergencies warns that, regardless of the thresholds established for each risk level, the impact of precipitation can reach its maximum severity value depending on the level of precipitation accumulated on the ground and the state of wastewater, among other factors .

Emergencies updated like this the special notice broadcast at 10:26 p.m. this Saturdaywhile CECOPI agreed to restrict the movement of non-residents in the areas most affected by the flood this Sunday to guarantee safety and emergency works on a rain alert day.

Areas of Catalonia and Murcia, also on orange alert

Beyond the Valencian Community, different areas of Catalonia – southern pre-coastal and southern coast of Tarragona – and Murcia – Vega del Segura – are also under orange alert due to heavy rains. In Catalonia, in addition to Tarragona on orange alert, the areas of Barcelona and Girona are also on alert, but at yellow level.

In yellow due to the risk of rain, points in Andalusia also appear this Sunday, notably the Levante of Almería. There, it is expected that 25 liters per square meter will accumulate in one hour and 60 liters per square meter in twelve hours.

In this community there are also yellow warnings for storms (Almería coast) and for coastal phenomena on the coast of Cádiz, the strait, the coast of Granada and west and the capital of Almería. The east wind is expected between 50 and 61 kilometers per hour.

In Aragon, yellow level alerts will also be activated, both for rain and for storms – both of low probability -, specifically in points in Teruel (Lower Aragon). Accumulated precipitation in one hour could reach 20 liters per square meter.

The areas of Castile-La Mancha are also: Hellín and Almansa, both due to rain (accumulation in one hour of 15 liters per square meter) and thunderstorms with probable hail.

AEMET already warned yesterday that even if the dana gives its last blows, we must not let our guard down. “Very strong storms in the Mediterranean this Sunday: we are activating orange alerts in certain areas of the Region of Murcia, Catalonia and the Valencian Community. More than 100 to 150 liters per square meter could accumulate in areas already affected by the floods of the 29th. Be careful!”, he noted last night on his social network X account.
